Thorney 5 Mile Race and Fun Run

There are still places available for the Thorney 5 and fun run next Sunday, enter via RunBritain. It's anticipated that there will also be a few places available on the day, but by entering in advance you help the race organisers and save yourself the "entry on the day" supplement. Please support Thorney Running Club, this is their first event since the loss of Keith Hall a much loved friend of all the local running clubs and long time race secretary for this event.

Quadkids -- Held on four Mondays through the summer
Venue: Peterborough Athletics Arena Date: See below Time: 18:00 to 20:00

This event is open to all ages from 8 years old to under 15.

Registration at the clubhouse at 6pm. We will aim to start as soon after 6.15pm as possible as we need to finish by 8pm

Each athlete will complete a sprint, 600m race, howler throw and long jump

Cost to GPAN athletes is £1 payable on the night with all GPAN entry fees to the GPAN account.

Car parking is free of charge in the Regional Swimming Pool car park at this time of night

GPAN Track Sessions -- 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month each month from 3rd Wednesday in October to June

Get Fit for the East -- Every 2nd Wednesday from 11th July to 3rd October
Venue: Peterborough Athletics Arena Dates: Wednesday 11 July, 10 July 24 July, 7 August, 21 August, 4 September, 18 September, 23 October. Time: 19:00 to 20:00

If you have entered Great Eastern in October what better way to get ready for it that to try the 'Get Fit 4' sessions. Aimed at helping athletes, young and not so young, those new to running and those more experienced to get in the best shape for the half marathaon. Of course these sessions won't just help for one race but will be aimed at ensuring you can achieve the targets you set yourself for any event.

On the track there will be two sessions, each led by a Coach and an Assistant coach. One will be a Zero to 5k session, progressing over the 7 weeks to enable complete beginners to complete the 5k Fun Run. The other will be focused on those already able to run 5k and wishing to develop their speed and fitness.

The runs from the track will be on an out and back route. All groups will run out for 25 minutes, turn around and run back ensuring that no-one is left behind as those at the back become the ones at the front. This run will be with any Pacers who attend, who will run at their target pace and volunteers from the local road running clubs who will run at a variety of paces.

Supported by Vivacity and Peterborough City Council togetrher with GPAN, these sessions will be led by qualified coaches and will be a mix of on track for speedwork and out and about the streets and byways of Peterborough for endurance. Come and give it a try, plus it's free!

GPAN would like runners from the local clubs to come along and take part in a 50 minute run (25 mins out and 25 mins back, ensuring that no-one is left behind as those at the back will become the ones at the front after 25 minutes!!) on a picturesque route from the Athletics track along the Nene towards Orton. You can run at whatever pace you like, but please be prepared to say what pace you will run at so if there is anyone attending the session that wants to run at that pace they will be able run with you.

Please note, there is no track alternative for volunteer/experienced club runners.
